Selecting Three Menu Options Based on Ingredients at Home and Cooking Time

The author reports that by entering available ingredients, number of servings, and cooking time, the tool organizes possible dishes, lists any additional ingredients needed, and arranges the cooking steps.

How it works

  1. The author puts ingredients separated by commas into --ingredients. They specify the available cooking time in --time and the number of servings in --servings.
  2. If the author adds dietary restrictions with --diet, these are also sent to the model. The response includes three menu options, required ingredients, missing ingredients, and the cooking steps for each dish.
  3. The program reads the response and displays the preparation time and recipe for each menu option in the terminal. It does not include features for placing grocery orders or controlling kitchen appliances.

Results

This is an example that shows structured dish options based on the input conditions. It does not include actual cooking results or nutritional analysis.

Notes

Although the code comments mention the Agno method, the actual implementation uses LangChain. The menu options and nutritional values are generated by the model.

Create a tool that organizes menu options based on [available ingredients], [number of servings], [cooking time], and [ingredients to exclude]. Check the input fields and response format of agents/17-recipe-agent, and prepare the necessary Python packages and API settings.

For each of the three menu options, show the ingredients used, additional ingredients needed, steps, and estimated time. Separate ingredients already on hand from those that need to be purchased, and do not substitute excluded ingredients with similar ones. The nutritional values in the original are not calculated from separate data, so do not display them as verified nutritional information. Do not place orders or make purchases—only create the list of menu options.

Test with cases where ingredients are lacking and time is short. Check that the ingredient list matches the cooking steps and that excluded ingredients do not appear again as sauces or garnishes. The output should be a list of menu options, a list of additional ingredients, instructions for execution, and conditions to verify. Do not state that actual cooking success has been measured.
