Collect Reddit Comments and Organize Them in Notion

Using n8n, Reddit posts and comments are collected, and Gemini is used to identify recurring concerns. The organized content is stored on a Notion page.

How it works

  1. After n8n's Schedule Trigger, Set Subreddit and RSS Read are connected. This is the starting point where the subreddit to investigate is specified and a list of new posts is read.
  2. Extract URLs and Aggregate URLs are used to filter and group only the post URLs. This list is passed to Bright Data's triggerCollectionByUrl task, which returns a snapshot_id to identify the collection job.
  3. Using the same snapshot_id, monitorProgressSnapshot is called to check the status. With Loop Over Items and Wait nodes, the status is checked every 30 seconds, and only when the status is ready, downloadSnapshot is connected to receive the content.
  4. From the received data, title, description, comments, upvotes, num_comments, and url are extracted. Using Set and Aggregate, these are gathered into a single object and passed to an AI Agent node connected to Gemini, which organizes recurring concerns and topics.
  5. A page is created with Notion's Create a page to store the results. The AI's markdown output is converted to Notion Blocks with Md to Notion Blocks, and then the main content is added with Add blocks as Children.

Results

The author shared the process of collecting posts from a skincare community and saving them in Notion.

Notes

The node names and connection order are disclosed, but the workflow file and complete setup guide for direct execution are left for future work. The author spent significant time on Notion block conversion. Processing volume and summary accuracy were not provided.

Example prompt · n8n

Create an n8n workflow to investigate posts and comments from a selected Reddit community and organize them into a Notion report.

Input: Subreddit [name], investigation question [topic], execution cycle [setting], Notion location to save [page]. Collect new post URLs from RSS and use permitted public data collection paths. Skip and record any restricted-access materials.

When starting a Bright Data task, save the snapshot_id and connect to download results only when the ready status is confirmed. Distinguish between failure, waiting, and completion statuses, then send the title, body, comments, number of reactions, and original URL to Gemini.

The report should include recurring concerns, representative opinions, opposing views, and original links. Do not interpret the number of comments as a proportion of all users, and clarify the scope if data is limited. Convert the generated markdown to Notion blocks and save it to the page.

Deliverables: Workflow JSON, list of credentials to connect, input/output samples. Test for empty feeds, collection delays/failures, duplicate posts, and Notion save failures, and verify that no baseless claims or duplicate pages are created.
