An agent team that builds an app for morning routines and alarms

A parent used Claude to build an iPhone app that sets task alarms and a wake-up time for a daughter who tends to rush in the morning.

How it works

  1. The author first wrote a detailed plan covering features, screens, and the user flow, then let Claude Desktop (Code) and Opus 5.5 work with subagents for about 8 hours.
  2. The app reloads the previous day's tasks, sets actual alarms for each one, and works backward from the time to leave to suggest when to wake up. It also adds a few minutes of buffer between tasks.
  3. For tasks that regularly take longer than expected, such as washing hair, it uses past records to suggest a revised estimate. The author also added streaks and a customizable character.

Results

The author said the app took 4 days to build. After a week of testing, the daughter was opening it on her own and could sleep for 20 extra minutes.

Notes

According to the author, the app is free, has no ads or accounts, and is under App Store review. Feedback from other users is not yet available.

Example prompt · Claude Code

Build a mobile app for someone with a busy morning routine to plan the next morning in under 1 minute the night before and receive an alarm for each task.

Inputs: user [e.g., a middle-school daughter], morning tasks and estimated durations [e.g., washing hair: 15 minutes; getting dressed: 10 minutes], time to leave home [time], and platform [iOS or Android]. First check whether the chosen development tools can set alarms directly on the phone and how a test build can be distributed.

Implementation: 1) Reload the previous day's task list so only changes need to be edited. 2) Work backward from departure time to show the wake-up time and each task's start time. 3) Add a few minutes of buffer between tasks so one delay does not push back the entire routine. 4) Set an alarm for every task. 5) Record actual durations and only suggest revised estimates for tasks that repeatedly run long; do not change them automatically. 6) Add a small reward such as a streak counting completed days. Do not add accounts, ads, or external data transmission.

Deliverables: a test build that can be installed on a phone, an explanation of the screens, and a record confirming that alarms ring. Start with one morning containing 3 tasks, verify the alarm times, and then expand the features.
