An agent that creates a decorative model from a reference image

A case of giving a generated decorative-object image to Codex and turning it into a Blender model.

How it works

  1. Simon Willison used ChatGPT Images 2.5 to create an image of a Fabergé egg themed around the TV series Pluribus.
  2. He gave the image to Codex running GPT-6 Astra high and had it create a model using a local Blender skill.

Results

The author says several .blend files were produced after 17 minutes and 51 seconds. The model is also viewable in the published browser viewer.

Notes

The viewer states that materials and text are approximate and unapplied modifiers are omitted. The display scope of the original model and the preview needs to be distinguished.

Example prompt · Codex

Please create a Blender model of [decorative object name] based on [reference image]. First check existing files in [working folder], whether Blender is installed, and available local skills; do not overwrite original files. List the visible shape, main parts, colors, and materials, and identify unseen surfaces as assumptions. Build the main shape first, add decorations and a base, then save the result as a .blend file. Provide reproducible generation code or work steps, the model file, and a rendered image for checking. Reopen the saved file, check for missing parts and incorrect placement, and explain differences from the reference image. If also using a browser viewer, separately check support for materials, text, and modifiers; do not assume its preview matches a Blender render.
